About

Reining Glory Equestrian Center was founded by Rich and Teralynn Warner-Farnan in 2023 and is located on the border of Rensselaer and Columbia Counties in upstate New York. The sanctuary was established to provide safe, compassionate aftercare for horses whose working or racing lives have ended and who would otherwise face uncertain futures.

Rescued, restart, rehome, sanctuary for horses

Caring for a horse is a long-term commitment. With an average lifespan of 25 to 30 years, the cost of feed, veterinary care, and proper shelter often makes it difficult for retired horses to find permanent homes. Thoroughbred racehorses, who often finish their careers at such young ages, frequently encounter this challenge, while aging broodmares, after producing foals for years, are often left without structured plans for their care once they can no longer breed.  This puts horses in a precarious position when their lives are just getting started.

Today, Reining Glory provides a permanent sanctuary for four former broodmares. These gentle, remarkable mares produced many foals that went on to become racehorses, yet once their breeding years ended, they had nowhere to go. At Reining Glory, they now live safely and peacefully, receiving the care and dignity they deserve.

As the founders became more involved in the horse community, it became clear that the need extends far beyond thoroughbreds. Many horses face similar circumstances: Amish work horses who can no longer perform demanding labor, summer camp horses without winter homes, ponies and trail horses that organizations and families can no longer care for, young quarter horses injured through intense competition, and heartbreaking neglect cases where horses are left in dire situations.

The demand for safe retirement and rescue options continues to grow. With additional resources and funding, Reining Glory has the opportunity to expand its capacity and provide sanctuary to more horses in need. Support from donors and community partners makes it possible to offer these animals not just rescue, but lifelong care, safety, and dignity.

Every contribution helps ensure that horses who have worked, served, and given so much are not forgotten when they can no longer perform.

Our Mission

Our Mission

At Reining Glory Equine Center our mission is to create awareness and make the world a kinder place for horses. The rescue originally began with the intention of helping thoroughbreds who did not make it as a racehorse and needed to find new humans to care for them. However, as we became immersed in the horse world, we quickly learned other sides of the horse industry and of all the horses in need.

Our Vision

Reining Glory is dedicated to improving the lives of all horses who need rescue, rehabilitation, re-training, and re-homing. Equines who have ended up in unsafe environments require time to heal emotionally, physically, and mentally. We at Reining Glory provide equines with all these aspects and will give them a second chance at life, a chance they all deserve. EVERY horse deserves a chance to receive love, good care, quality nutrition, and a happily ever after.
